New Content and The Future of AndroidScout

First and foremost let us address the elephant in the room. Yes, it’s true we have all quit writing and have decided to start a zoo. 😛 All kidding aside, I want to take a few minutes of your time to talk about the content on AndroiScout or to be more accurate the lack of content.

Amidst speculation that AndroidScout may be dead in the water, I would like to take a moment on behalf of my entire team to apologize for our overall lackluster performance and our general absence of content in recent weeks. There has been a debatably good reason for this, and while we are unable to discuss said reason in its entirety, it just appears, from an outsider’s perspective, that we have all gone AFK. I assure you that this is not the case. What I can tell you is that the recent Content Drought has little to do with a waning interest on our part, and much more to do with an ongoing effort to implement a complete soup-to-nuts restructuring of the way things are done here at AndroidScout in an effort to provide our readers with the most professional, relevant, and sustainable website that we can possibly muster. With that being said, it has come to our attention that while our future aspirations are no less likely to be realized, all of that applied effort will have been for naught if we continue to allow our existing platform to stagnate in the mean time. The goal here is to maintain public interest throughout the course of our growing pains. We want to change the way AndroidScout presents its content. Up to this point, our main focus has been ROM Reviews, and while there is nothing wrong with those, we want to create more diverse content. As you may have noticed our more recent content is focused around other things in the tech world and this has only been a baby step in our effort to change our content. As I said, we have big plans for AndroidScout, plans that at the moment I am unable to expand upon as we are still ironing out the kinks such as looking for a web developer to help execute those plans. What I can say is that as the site stands currently, our ability to create new and broader content is constrained. So, in the coming weeks the whole face of the AndroidScout site will be changed. While we will not close the site during this changing process, we ask that you please bare with use if parts of the site become inaccessible or do not work as intended. This facelift, if you will, is only another baby step in our ultimate goal of improving our site and improving our content. We have bigger plans for the near future and this is just a smell step in the direction we wish to take AndroidScout. Thank you for reading and understanding. As always if you have any comments, questions, or concerns feel free to contact us at any time.

Now that we have addressed that issue there is more news. One of our very own AndroidScout writers was gifted with an invite and has been able to get his hands on the OnePlus 2. I speak of none other than yours truly. That’s right after what seemed like an endless battle with USPS, I have the OnePlus 2 in my hands. While it is too early to give a comprehensive review, the OnePlus 2 has already left some impressions and you can read those here:

OnePlus 2 First Impressions

But that is not all, besides the upcoming review of the OnePlus 2, I will also write an article where I put the OnePlus 2 head to head against its little brother the OnePlus One and answer the question that’s been on people’s minds since The 2 came out. “Is the OnePlus 2 worth the upgrade from the OnePlus One?”

The good news doesn’t end there. I mentioned that we are all working on new content that is related to the ever-changing tech world and while I can’t give you specifics yet, I can tell you to expect that extra content to start arriving very soon.

As always, here at AndroidScout we are community driven. If you have any suggestions, questions, comments or doubts let us know in the comments or contact us through our various methods. We are constantly working on improving our content for you the reader and are constantly looking for your feedback.

Thanks for reading and have a happy Monday/Tuesday. :) 2

Week 8 – Just ROM reviews? Nah!

[Update] As promised, we present to you moar things! To add to the Moto 360 impressions and the AK Kernel spotlight, we bring you two more articles for tonight: A PAC-MAN ROM review by EpicSwirly, and a How-to-guide for Running Linux on Android by Rez K.

You can find the PAC-MAN ROM under Android ROM Reviews and the Linux on Android article in More Goodies. Enjoy!

Greetings fellow tech enthusiasts! So for the last two weeks we’ve been teasing that we’ll be posting more “pleasant surprises”, and to start off this week, we bring you two very different kinds of reviews/articles: first impressions of the Moto 360 smartwatch by Tiago Marques, and a step-by-step guide to the AK Kernel by Adam W!

You’ll find both these articles under our new “More Goodies” menu, or you just jump straight to it by clicking here.

Coming later tonight: one more surprise article to do with a certain familiar penguin friend of the green Android guy! 😉 8

Mid-week Update for Week 4!

Welcome back, flashaholics! Before we move on to the usual “here’s what we have for you today”, we’d like to say something to our visitors:

We know the last couple of days have been a bit dry in terms of the number of reviews we have been putting out and we want to thank you all for bearing with us while we sort out the issues we have been facing. Some of our members have sorted out the problems on their devices while some still haven’t. But rest assured, we will be back every week to bring you content and we should be running at full speed again soon.

Again, a big thanks to you all for your patience and understanding, and for staying with us while we recuperate. For this Wednesday’s update, we bring you two reviews from our team members which you’ll find here, in the Android ROMs review list.

Enjoy! :) 0

Week 4: A few new reviews for the weekend!

Hello again, all! We sincerely apologize for any delays and the limited amount of new content this weekend… As was mentioned earlier, many of our team are facing various issues, both personal and technical in nature that they are working to correct. :( Not to worry though, today we will be bringing you two new reviews, including Adam W’s follow-up review of Team Vanir’s Commotio ROM as well as Guest Contributor Maleton3’s review of OmniROM. As always, you can find these reviews, and more on our Android ROM Reviews List. Enjoy!

Rest assured, there will be more content for you to enjoy on Wednesday, so stay tuned! And as always – happy flashing! :) 0

Mid-week Update for Week 3!

Good day, everyone! After the unfortunate series of events that led to our Sunday reviews getting postponed, we are happy to announce that we have a lot of ROM reviews to share with you today, including guest reviews by fellow flashaholics teamcoy and Kshitiz!

The reviews that are currently up can, as usual, be found in our Android ROM Reviews list. Two more additional reviews will be posted in the next few hours by our regular team members, so be sure to check back in! Thank you all for your patience and as always, happy flashing! :) 0

Week 3 – Sunday sadness, where are the reviews?!!

Unfortunately we won’t have any reviews for today (Sunday/6/15) and we sincerely apologize for this, 6 of us are very busy in real life at the moment, 3 have been working on testing and writing their reviews for Wednesday and one of us is going through the wonderful OnePlus RMA experience… :(

We’re still working hard on getting organized and will continue posting reviews, do not worry, on Wednesday we will have new guest reviews and a few reviews of our own. Again, we apologize for the disappointment today but we will deliver on Wednesday and hopefully every Sunday/Wednesday from there on out. 4

Mid-week Update!

More ROM reviews and a first impression of HydrogenOS…

Welcome back, Flashaholics, and to new-comers – hello! Here’s some good news: we’re gonna start to spread our content out across the week starting today. We have two new ROM reviews for today and a short first look at OnePlus’s leaked HydrogenOS v1.0 build.

You’ll find links to the new content on the Android ROM Reviews list. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend, and as always, happy flashing! :) 0
